<image:title>Blog - Feeding Milestones: What to Expect After Age 2 and When to Seek an Evaluation - What Should Parents Watch For?</image:title>
<image:caption>Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Sometimes feeding concerns are easy to dismiss as "picky eating" or a phase. But there are certain patterns that may be worth paying closer attention to. You may want to consider a feeding evaluation if your child: • Eats fewer than 15–20 different foods or avoids entire food groups or textures • Gags, coughs, or takes an unusually long time to chew before swallowing • Strongly prefers only certain textures, such as crunchy, soft, or smooth foods • Drools, mouth-breathes, or has difficulty keeping food in their mouth • Tires easily or takes a very long time to finish meals • Becomes distressed or frequently refuses food at mealtimes • Has ongoing nasal congestion, snoring, or an open-mouth posture • Has unclear speech or noticeable jaw or tongue weakness • Becomes overwhelmed by smells, sounds, or textures during meals These signs don't necessarily mean that something is wrong. They may, however, be clues that oral-motor, sensory, or regulation challenges are affecting your child's experience with feeding—and potentially their speech as well.</image:caption>

<image:caption>At Inside Out Speech & Language Therapy, feeding therapy is relationship-based and regulation-first. Our approach may support children with: • Oral-motor coordination for chewing and swallowing • Posture, breath support, and endurance • Expanding food variety and confidence • Sensory comfort and interoception • Safety and connection during mealtimes The goal isn't simply to get a child to eat more foods. It's about helping them develop the skills and comfort they need to participate in mealtimes with greater confidence.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Mouth Breathing Isn't Just a Habit: What Parents Should Know - Why Does It Matter?</image:title>
<image:caption>Breathing affects more than airflow. When children are working harder to breathe, they may also be working harder to regulate, eat, sleep, and communicate. Over time, chronic mouth breathing may contribute to: • Inefficient oral function • Feeding challenges • Speech differences • Sleep disruption • Orthodontic concerns • Continued compensatory oral patterns This doesn't mean that every child who mouth breathes will experience these concerns. It simply means that persistent mouth breathing is something worth paying attention to.</image:caption>
