About Heather Sanchez, MA, CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Heather—a Speech Language Pathologist with 25 years of experience supporting children and their families in their communication journeys. I received my Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Texas State University and my Master of Arts in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas-Pan American in 1999. I hold licenses in Texas and Hawaii and I am ASHA certified and a member of TSHA.
I am a licensed provider of the Hanen parent training programs: It Takes Two to Talk, More Than Words, and Target Word. Additionally, I am trained in the following: PROMPT (Levels 1 & 2), Social Thinking (Michelle Garcia Winner), Talk Tools for feeding and oral-motor therapy/assessment, manual therapy, and myofunctional assessment/therapy. In addition, I am trained in Fast ForWord and MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach) for dyslexia and other reading interventions. I draw from my background in sensory integration and to support each child holistically.
My specialties included early language development, articulation and phonological disorders, tongue thrust, myofunctional therapy, and feeding therapy. I strongly believe therapy is most successful when parents/caregivers are active partners in their child's therapy process. This approach creates a stronger support system, reinforces positive change at home, and facilitates lasting change.
Based in Austin, TX since 1999, I love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. For leisure, I enjoy being at lakes, rivers, pools, and beaches, and traveling to other states.
